Miles Alexander Teller was born on February 20, 1987, in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, to Merry, a real estate agent, and Michael, a nuclear power plant engineer. He grew up alongside two older sisters, Erin and Dana, and spent his early childhood in Pennsylvania and Delaware before his family moved to Citrus County, Florida, when he was twelve. In high school he served as president of the drama club, performed in stage productions and played alto saxophone, drums, piano and guitar, even pursuing baseball with dreams of turning professional. After graduating from Lecanto High School, he earned a BFA in drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2009, training in method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and screen acting at Stonestreet Studios.
